This antique Japanese tsuba is crafted from brass and features a delightful and detailed domestic scene. On the left, a finely engraved vase brimming with long leaves rests atop an ornate table, its legs gracefully curved with traditional flair. Below the table, a curious mouse peeks out, adding a touch of playful realism. On the lower right, additional silver-inlaid mice interact with tied straw-wrapped parcels and a cloth-bound bundle—symbols often associated with prosperity and sustenance. The surface is warmly patinated, enhancing the intricate etching and giving the piece a rich historical character. The central opening (nakago-ana) is flanked by two hitsu-ana, and Japanese script is engraved vertically beside the nakago-ana, likely identifying the artist or school.
