Art Deco Platinum Diamond and Sapphire Open Circle Brooch

Curving rows of blue sapphires and diamond-set leaf motifs define this Art Deco open circle brooch, fashioned in 900 platinum. French cut and mixed cut blue sapphires follow the upper arcs within narrow milgrain borders. Transitional cut diamonds totaling 0.55ctw continue around the lower circumference in graduated, pierced settings, culminating in a larger diamond within an angular frame at the base. At the top, a diamond-set scroll curls inward toward the open center, adding an asymmetrical flourish to the circular composition. Fine engraving and milgrain sharpen the flowing ornament, while the contrast between blue sapphires, diamonds, and white platinum reflects the crisp color combinations associated with Art Deco jewelry. The reverse has open settings beneath the gemstones and a hinged pin with a barrel-style safety catch.
