Flashes of green, blue, and orange animate the pale body of a 0.77ct round cabochon cut opal in this vintage gold solitaire ring. Its smoothly domed surface rises above a crown-like setting, with evenly spaced white prongs leaving most of the gemstone exposed. Arched openings beneath the prongs give the gallery a scalloped profile, while an open back reveals the underside of the opal. The 1930's polished 16k yellow gold shoulders narrow toward the setting, their ridged contours adding definition before flowing into a plain lower shank.
