Vintage Victorian Revival Yellow Gold Amethyst Festoon Necklace

Draped gold chains and violet amethysts define this vintage Victorian Revival festoon necklace, combining 14k yellow gold mountings with a 9k yellow gold chain. Two oval faceted amethysts punctuate the upper strands, while additional chain swags descend on either side of a pierced, fan-shaped central ornament. Below, curling gold ribbons accented with raised beads frame round faceted amethysts and support a large cushion cut amethyst weighing approximately 26.18ct. Broad claws secure the center stone in an open-backed basket, leaving its faceted pavilion visible from the reverse. A further chain loop hangs beneath the centerpiece, extending the layered festoon arrangement. Additional oval and round faceted amethysts total 7.53ctw, bringing the combined amethyst weight to 33.71ctw, and a decorated marquise-shaped box clasp completes the necklace.
