An oval deep brown and white sardonyx intaglio displays the Mulholland family coat of arms in this antique 10k rose gold ring. The heraldic composition incorporates three shells and a stag, framed by scrolling ornament that draws on the stone’s contrasting layers. Beneath the arms, the motto “Semper Precintus,” meaning “always girded” or “always prepared,” is inscribed in reverse for use as a wax seal. A smooth oval bezel surrounds the carving, while flared shoulders carry three parallel grooves that continue around the shank. The closed reverse provides a broad surface for the interior engraving “J.W. Mulholland,” rendered in flowing script.
