This beautiful antique cameo brooch features a finely carved scene from Greek mythology. Amalthea is shown standing with one foot perched on a cluster of stones, supporting the young Zeus as he sits on her leg and drinks from a cornucopia, a symbol of abundance. Beneath them lies a calm, horned goat, a symbol of Amalthea’s nurturing form. A large tree arches overhead, adding a natural frame to the mythic scene. The cameo is set in a richly ornate yellow gold frame with bold, swirling scrollwork. The gold has a warm tone that complements the classical carving beautifully.
