Hand-carved from shell, the cameo depicts a finely detailed female profile in high relief, her flowing hair adorned with a feathered headdress and delicate drapery. The carving displays beautiful depth and dimension, with soft, sculptural modeling that brings the figure gracefully to life against the warm blush-toned ground.
The cameo is set within an oval gold vermeil frame, accented by a striking black enamel border. The contrast between the rich enamel and glowing gold mount creates a dramatic presentation that enhances the refined carving at its center. Subtle engraved detailing along the inner bezel adds further intricacy.
The reverse retains a traditional hinged pin stem and C-clasp closure, consistent with early construction.
