Antique 10k Yellow Gold Carved Conch Shell Female Portrait Pendant

A classical female portrait emerges in sculptural relief from an elaborate carved shell surround in this antique pendant. Curling scrolls and a crest-like upper flourish introduce Rococo Revival ornament, while rounded bead-like forms follow the lower edge. Pierced openings beneath the portrait separate the central oval from the surrounding decoration, giving the small carving depth and an intricate silhouette.
